PGCC Hifdh Program
The Parent Handbook provides families with important information about the PGCC Full-Time Hifdh Programme, including the programme structure, student expectations, home preparation, assessment, fees and parent responsibilities.
We encourage all parents and guardians to read the handbook in full and keep a copy for reference throughout the year.
The programme runs Monday to Saturday, with full days from Monday to Thursday, a shorter Friday for Jumu'ah and a Saturday morning session.
Students follow Dars, Muraaja'ah al Dars and long term Muraaja'ah, alongside Fiqh, salah and physical education.
All students use the same 15-line Mushaf consistently throughout the programme.
The monthly fee covers Hifdh tuition, Fiqh, physical education, martial arts, supervision and pastoral care.
A strong home routine plays an important role in a student’s progress. Parents are encouraged to set a consistent daily time for preparing the next day’s Dars, either the night before or after Fajr, and to support regular night and morning revision.
A calm study environment with limited distractions can make a significant difference. Parents should also check the Hifdh record book regularly, listen to their child recite where possible, and contact the teacher early if their child is struggling.
As the Full Time Hifdh Programme takes the place of the normal school day, children of compulsory school age must be registered for home education with the Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority.
This registration remains the responsibility of the parent or guardian. PGCC provides Qur’an memorisation and Islamic education, while families remain responsible for ensuring their child’s overall home education plan addresses the required learning areas.
The handbook also includes guidance on the registration process, learning plans and timing for the February 2027 intake.
Student progress is monitored throughout the programme to ensure memorisation remains accurate and well retained.
Each Dars is assessed for accuracy and tajweed, with mistakes recorded and the lesson either passed or repeated. Students also complete formal semester examinations and a Mukammal examination after completing each juz before progressing to the next.
Students are expected to arrive prepared and properly equipped for each session.
Each student should bring their own consistent 15 line Mushaf, Hifdh record book, pens and pencils, water bottle, and a healthy snack and lunch. Students also require access to the Al Muqri app for their daily home preparation.
